I promised the students that we'd celebrate in a BIG way since 100 is a mighty large number. Here's the cake we shared at snack time.
Here we are making spectacles
to make it easier to see all the examples of 100 in our classroom.

They looked fabulous and the students had a blast wearing them!
During this day, everything we did revolved around ways to make 100, what 100 looks like, and finding things that were comprised of 100. |
 |
| Creating a train of 100 linking cubes turned out to be easier once we figured out that we could use 10 groups of 10! |
 |
| Making a puzzle that has 100 pieces. Here's MB wondering who he could convince to help him - soon after this photo was taken, almost half the class joined in at this activity. |
 |
100 stickers to make a picture!
Also, on the floor is JP's 100 candle and SH's 100 Lego block creation!
Great ideas! |

Threading hearts where every 5th heart was pink and every 10th was red. Here are CM and CR busily choosing colours with which to number their hearts.
It was a wonderful day for everyone and I was very impressed by the creative ideas that students brought to school to demonstrate ways to represent 100. We saw a nest which contained 100 bubble gum eggs; a candle, a cereal box poster, Lego, pictures, and paintings. Thank you to all the parents who supported these efforts! |
